It was a privilege for us here at Golspie Free Church to know and to share in the friendship and support that Ian selflessly gave to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
Rev Ian Allan passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday 3rd May at Raigmore Hospital following a short illness. Our deepest condolences go to Ian’s family and the many friends who mourn his passing at this time.
A lifelong colleague, Rev Robert MacLeod, writes: “Ian was a good man, a good friend and a good pastor over his years in ministry both with the Faith Mission and Free Church of Scotland. Ian served those he ministered to in Glenelg, Drumnadrochit, Bishopbriggs and Bracadale, Skye, Rogart, and latterly giving supply to many rural congregations. With a servant’s heart he laboured quietly and winsomely under the radar of public gaze.”
Ian was regarded as a true friend by many throughout the country and he will be sorely missed by all.
The words of Jesus (John 17) come to mind at this time:
“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory….” Ian is now with Jesus and also reunited with all who have made that journey before himself.
